Fall Downsizing for ROOM to Breathe and do what's important

So, it’s almost fall and you are going through your closets and drawers, cleaning things out, getting rid of what hasn’t been used in years, making space.

Space.

I am making space, too.

Space for not more stuff but room for your (and my) brain.

Maybe your life needs more space.

To breathe and to think. Space for what’s important to you.

How can you make more space in your life?

What do you need to let go of for more room to think?

Like your closets and drawers, maybe you can go through your calendar and your to-do list(s).

What drains you? Every time?

What are you doing just to please other people and you are not doing it out of love and generosity? If you continue to do this, you will become grumpy, and possibly bitter.

Where do you need to let go?  What do you need to let go of, to say goodbye to?

What do you need to put more time and energy into?

If something is draining you, is it “for a season” so you can see the end (and I am not talking about a vacation, but a REAL end)?  That’s probably okay, because we all have draining seasons.

I look at my fall schedule and I am full, but almost every single thing I have intentionally chosen to do and it gives me joy, even if it is draining, time and energy-wise.

So, the final question is what gives you joy on your calendar and in your life?

I am NOT talking about escaping (bing TV, gaming, addictive activities), but what gives real, lasting joy – and how can you do more of this, and less of that (those) draining activity(ies)?

Just say NO

Finally, when you downsize your life and make room for your brain, for thinking, and room to breathe, remember it takes saying no. Not maybe, but a real no.

How can you learn to say no better?  Without guilt or even explanations, just a nice, polite no?

I have learned that a no can be hard, but very necessary for me to be able to follow my values and do more of what is important to me, for example, spending time with people I care about, time on writing and time alone reading and thinking. I need a lot of thinking time.

For example, I recently wrote a book and finally got it on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Reach-mountain-top-Starting-Switzerland-ebook/dp/B09CZ7W225/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Patricia+Jehle&qid=1629708139&sr=8-2

The book is mostly for my clients, but “help yourself”.

I hope this week finds you weeding out the junk in your life and doing what is more important.

Moving onwards and upwards,
