Community is balm to our souls - it's TIME to meet up, once again
Times are a changing!
Let’s celebrate with each other!
I am changing my recent hibernation habits with the changing times; what about you?
I have recently gone through my diary/calendar from BEFORE March 2020.
I was shocked.
What I discovered was a calendar was full of in-person meetings, with people I enjoy and, of course clients I enjoy.
Community is my “word” for 2022, and that – and the review of my calendar has made me realize it is time to get together with people again, especially people who make me happy.
That is just what I did this morning: coffee with an “old” friend. It did my soul good!
Last week – here in Switzerland – the COVID doors “opened up” even more to meeting people in person and I am very glad.
Why? – because it is healthy for us to have contact with other people, with a variety of people, people who give is hope and joy and energy.
What can be done:
What I did, after reading through my old calendar, was make a list of people I wanted to see and I started texting and emailing them (though I am certainly not finished) – and now my February calendar looks much more positive.
Then I put my resolve into practice – it started with coffee with a friend in Geneva last month, and then having friends coming for dinner weekend before last, and then continued with a conversation with a good friend on Thursday over tea … this coming week looks similar .
We are human and built for relationship, even us introverts.
Community is what keeps our soul healthy.
We all need human interaction and slowly but surely it’s time for all of us to come out of our “COVID bubbles” and meet up. It’s for our own health and emotional well-being.
So, I suggest to you that you do what I have done: go over your pre-COVID calendars and/or address books and look for people you are missing. I bet you will find a few.
Make a list.
Then contact them, and meet up, or make a plan to meet up. Just do it!
It will take some courage to come out of our “home office” routines and bubble lifestyles to get out there and interact with your friends and colleagues once more, but it is really worth it.
I can guarantee that you will be happier – and I bet healthier – for it, especially if you continue to follow the COVID recommendations in your area. You will have food for your soul and a healthier mind when you:
· Go over your calendar/address book
· Make a list of people to see
· Contact them
· Make plans and dates (even if they have to be moved)
· And finally, start meeting up again
“A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones.“
Proverbs 14:30 – The Message
Have a wonderful week – and season – meeting “your people”!
