What books are on your table and what have you been reading?
I love the idea of getting books for Christmas
It happens every year for me- from my husband, usually and always two books from work…
What are you reading? What are you learning?
Even in COVID 2020, I read- maybe you did to. I read to learn, to grow, to escape, to travel, even to travel in time. Books are a solace and are friends.
I have an old friend who regularly greets her friends with the question, “What are you reading?” This is one of my favorite questions because it assumes that the person is a learner and a reader. I think we should be both. So, the second question that goes with the first is “What are you learning?”
That really leads to pre-questions: Why are you reading these books? What books are next in line? What are your goals? What books and articles are you reading that lead you to your goals? Also, what courses, lectures, YouTube videos, webinars might you be “attending” to reach your goals?
My reading and my goals
One of my biggest goals is always to work on becoming a better coach, supervisor and consultant for my clients, so I have been and am still reading coaching and supervision books even though I’ve finished my supervision course with an EASC certification. My next goals are in flux, but right now I am taking a course on member care and debriefing.
We are all constantly learning and changing - and I believe change is possible for everyone. It helps to have a goal, but sometimes things happen serendipitously.
So, what are your goals for 2021? What are doing now to begin to reach those goals? What are you reading and what are you learning for your future- both near and far?
Have a great rest of Advent, a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and successful New Year!
