Happy Holidays

Books and More - Happy Holidays!

Most people know I am a book lover and read voraciously. This year, I will only suggest a few books, not because I haven’t read a lot, but because, I think this is more helpful for those of you who are, or know, a coach or supervisor. Before I get into the thick of things, I want to add a book I read last week that is a literature and has a lot of wisdom and coaching in it – and there is quite some reflection, which makes the characters change and move forward. I highly recommend it also for anyone working in intercultural fields. This lovely book is called “What you are looking for is in the Library” by Michiko Aoyama. Not only does it cover many situations that coaching clients may face and how they overcome their challenges, but there is a lot of fun and Japanese food (which is very intercultural) mentioned. Buy it for yourself or for a friend and borrow it after they are done.

Here is my Christmas book list for supervisors and coaches for you to buy, ones which maybe they don't know:

Systemic Consultantncy in Organisations by Königswiser and Hillebrand (Carl-Auer Verlag)

Coaching & Mentoring Supervision: Theory and Practice by Bachkirova, Jackson and Clutterbuck  (McGraw Hill Publishing)

Humble Consulting by  Edgar Schein (Berret Koehler)

Relational Coaching by Erik de Haan (Wiley)

What books are you reading? Do you make time to read? What kinds of books do you enjoy?

As many of you know, those who read my blog, I am planning to retire from teaching at the end of next spring’s semester. That will give me more time for coaching and supervision, and time for other projects that have been on my back burner for a while.

How are you making time for projects that have been on your back burner? How do you decide to do which one first?

Finally, what are you doing to move forward positively into 2025?

What are some things you would like to do more of? Do less of? Stop? Is there anything you would want to do again – exactly or approximately?

Where do you want to be at the end of 2025 – geographically and in other ways?

How will you spend your free time next year and with whom?

For more questions, look at my blog from last year – or give me an email or call after Janauary 12th, 2025.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and Happy 2025!
