What exactly is supervision, and who needs it? Maybe you do!
Last weekend a friend asked me what supervision is and how might it apply to them.
First and foremost, supervision is for the helping fields and I work primarily within my fields, names with coaches, supervisors and educators, but I also work with business leaders and help them with their personal development. Today I am going to focus on a smaller field: supervision of coaches and supervisors:
As a qualified supervisor, I support coaches and supervisors after their training and in their ongoing professional development.
Are you:
· A practising coach or supervisor who wants to grow in your personal and professional development?
· Are you setting up your own practice?
· Are you currently undergoing a transition in your career in some way?
If yes to any of the above, here are the reasons why you may need and want a supervisor:
1. To have an opportunity to discuss a selection of your client issues and challenge your methodology with a highly qualified and experienced practitioner
2. To increase your knowledge of coaching and supervision research and application to your practice
3. To increase your referral networks (don’t we all need this?)
4. To actively question your reasons for being a coach or supervisor
5. To actively question if your reasons for setting up a private practice are achievable and realistic
6. To guide you with establishing your practice
7. To support you as an individual who has decided to take on a profession with wondrous opportunities and outcomes and to recognise the highs and lows of such a passion
8. To keep yourself balanced in your own professional and private life to avoid burnout
9. To remind you that you are not doing this alone!
If I have spoken to you, give me an email- next time I will write a story about how I have helped someone who is a business leader and feels alone in their support network.
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
